Late comic can be blamed on Artista, who was too busy with ‘life’ this weekend to draw. *bitter grumbles* Just kidding? I love ya, Arty?

Anyway. Go see The Dark Knight. This is not optional. It is imperative. Knowing my friends and our readers, most of you already have. Go see it again. It’s just that good. Clearly it is, as I am still in shock and awe; so much so that I couldn’t even write a comic for this week. I do, however, like what we’ve got for you. If you couldn’t tell, we here at RHoM like the villians better than the heroes. Besides, if we did the heroes, one of them would end up being Robin. I enjoy the concept of dressing the characters up in costumes, so expect to see more of that. I like to give Artista challenges, too. Yay.

I think this strip marks the first time the whole Household (plus Gene) appears in a strip together. Clearly this is cause for celebration. Everyone break out your party hats and streamers. It’s gonna be a wild night. See you kids next week.

I’m a dog chasing cars,

Phoenix

PS omg.
PPS If you missed out on for free, I am truly sorry. Go be a good little fanboy/girl and give Joss Whedon your four dollars on iTunes so you can watch it. This is even more imperative than seeing The Dark Knight, and it’s a good deal cheaper!

Well, here we are again.  Blogtime!

Wait, I’m not your normal every week blogger!  Look out, ladies and jellyspoons, Artista’s on the loose!  Bwahahahha!!

*Ahem* Sorry about that.  Little power trip.  I’m over it.  In reference to the comic, I really was sincerely disappointed by the Golden Compass movie.  Ask Phoenix, he was there when I experienced it.  I was literally super psyched up for the next part, and then it effing ended!  I was so shocked.  Of course, anyone who hasn’t read the books (which are fabulous, btw) by Philip Pullman, wouldn’t understand my outrage.  It’s an anger similar to, and perhaps surpassing, the grinding of teeth at the Harry Potter movie phenomenon.  But as few must realize, spectacular animation can’t make up for butchering an entire series of books and Disneyifying them into movies.  Of course, I’ve heard they aren’t even going to make movies out of the next two, which doesn’t surprise or disappoint me, especially where they decided to end it.  Super lame.

Well, that’s the rant of the week.  It’ll be back to good ol’ Phoenix next week, thank the comic gods, for all of your sakes. Thanks for putting up with the slight lateness and silly content of this week’s comic, but I suppose it’s not that different from usual.

Until next time… I’ll be here all week, be sure to tip your waitress, unless you’re Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs,

Artista

PS: I had to check the spelling of “reservoir” like 3 times.  Weird word.

I apologize not for the lateness of the comic this week, but for the prerequisite level of nerdiness you must have in order to fully appreciate it. It’s a WoW reference, and for that I am sorry. It just seemed too good to pass up, what with the new California cell phone laws in place starting this month. Leaves your hands free to do other things, like texting, typing on your laptop, putting on your makeup, shaving, putting on your clothes, taking off your clothes, taking off a passenger’s clothes, or you know, driving.

Switzerland, (not the country) one of our associate writers here at RHoM and the inspiration for the character of Eugene, is going through some rough times right now. I don’t know, nor do I particularly mind, if any of you are of any particular faith or not, but please keep Switz and his family in your thoughts, prayers, etc, be they directed at Jesus, the Greek pantheon, Qui-Gon Jinn, or whomever. I’ve known Switzerland for quite a long time, and have the pleasure of calling him one of my best friends, so my thoughts are certainly with him. Hang in there, buddy.

Well, kids, that’s it for this week. I won’t see you next week, as I’ll be gone for a bit and Artista will be in charge of putting the comic up. Don’t let her burn down the house or nothin’.

Life is very short and there’s no time for fussing and fighting, my friend,

Phoenix

PS Playing “Margaritaville” on Rock Band is the best thing ever.

Sorry for the lateness of the comic. It’s been a crazy, rough week.

I had a blog post planned out in my head earlier, but that will have to wait. As Switzerland and I have been known to say, “I am in no mood!”.

Well, the gist of what I wanted to say had to do with the title of this week’s blog. One of the first things I “learned” at my summer job was “all roads lead through Main St.”. Although it means something else, I’m applying it to life, cause I can. Basically, take the time to do the things that you like to do. Life’s too short to pass up opportunities. Take a chance. Go for the gold.

Be happy.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it,

Phoenix

PS Nerds, rejoice. You have a reason to live again.

Congratulations to Unicorn for winning our first ever contest! Here is her winning entry. Enjoy it! Yay!

We’re cleverly using this submitted comic to take a week off and try and get a couple buffer comics sketched as Artista is without a tablet. We’ll be back with regularly scheduled programming next week. See you all then.

Don’t ever hit your mother with a shovel; it’ll leave a dull impression on her mind,

Phoenix

PS We did a guest comic over at Juxtaposition Comics! Check it out!

So, Artista needs to be less good at art. I felt actual pain as I tried to squeeze the words in as to minimize the covering up of her fantastic work this week. I’m afraid the words take too much away from the art. Sad.

Although maybe it’s just because of the subject matter that I feel this way. This is actually a ‘poem’ that Whaleweigh and I wrote back in 2006, upon deciding that neo-emo was the new emo and that it was a movement that was more annoying than painful.

“more annoying than painful - the story of my life”
A Neo-Emo Poem by Phoenix and Whaleweigh

drip, drip, drip
the chinese water torture of my life goes by
fingernails scrape across a chalkboard
we’re out of milk again.

For the full effect, you’d have to see Whaleweigh read this live. Fantastic.

Reminder! This is your last week to enter our contest! All entries due at midnight, Saturday, June 21st! Full details found here! Exclamation mark!

This Friday I’m DMing a campaign of D&D using the new 4th edition rules. It’s been so long since I’ve actually DM’d, and with the new rules, it might as well be like my first time. Regardless, I’m excited in degrees that can only be categorized as ’stoked’. My experience with 4th edition so far has been limited to perusing of the new rulebooks and the sample campaign I picked up, but so far I’m happy with most of the changes. The books are considerably more streamlined, which goes with what I think was their main goal in mind when revising the 3rd edition. Combat, skills, feats are all simplified for ease of play. Some might consider this a ‘dumbing down’, but I’ll reserve judgement until I see it in action for a few sessions at least. One of the changes that I’m not so happy to see is the removal of the bard class, which has always been my favorite by far. It seems like it was cut under the same streamlining rule, as the classes have been hammered out into the functions they perform in a group, as has been stressed more and more in RPGs as of late. Fighters and paladins are your tanks, clerics and warlords are your healers/support, rogues, rangers and warlocks are your DPS, and wizard is your AoE nuker. Classes such as the bard, druid, and monk were dropped, sadly. Just not enough room. Anyway, I am looking forward to the new rules. We’ll see how things go.

Sorry for that brief interlude into far nerdier lands than many of you are used to. And if you just skipped that big, long, scary paragraph, welcome back. Did you have a nice break? Good. This is what you missed, according to Artista: “its like, blah blah blah, tanks, warlocks, blah blah…” Fantastic.

That’s it for this week. Hope everyone’s summers are going well so far. Remember to drink lots of water; it’s getting hot out there. Dehydration can kill you, you know. Clear and copious! Now you know. And knowing is half the battle!

Such ingratitude after all the times I’ve saved your life,

Phoenix

PS I just had the most delicious chocolate cake. Oh my gods.

Howdy folks. This week’s comic is up late due to a miscommunication between the producer and the artist. My first day of work was today, and as such, I went to bed at some ungodly early hour of like, ten or so. We’ll see if we can’t get the comic up on time regardless of my new work schedule. But here it is! And a blog as well! I sit here, sweaty and gross (EW SWEAT), resisting the urge to shower in order to post a proper blog. It’s what the people demand! Although, as soon as they invent the means to smell over the internet, the people will likely be demanding I shower instead. Ah well.

So! Less than two weeks to enter our contest! Full details can be found here! Please enter! It’ll be fun, I promise!

Artista lost access to the wonderful tablet Ginger had been loaning us, so we’ve got some different art style this week. Also black and white, because black and white means fancy. Everyone knows this. Quick clarification for the comic, Wednesday hates the song “All-Star” by Smashmouth with an intense, fiery passion, while the rest of us here at RHoM love it and are prone to bursting into rounds of it in the car. Wednesday also has a special way of getting me back whenever I play All-Star, so check the comments for that soon.

And with that, dear readers, I leave you ’til next week. In the mean time, leave some comments, peruse posts past (passed?), join the facebook group, and rock out to “All-Star”. Oh, and enter the contest. Adios.

What do you hear?

Phoenix

PS “All-Star” isn’t actually a secret song in Rock Band. Much to our disappointment.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming. This has been a test of the emergency RHoMcast system. Had this been a real emergency, Wednesday and I would already have enacted our Zombie Apocalypse Plan. If you want in on that, make sure you pick up a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide. We don’t want any stragglers.

We’re still finding our groove here at Roget’s House of Mystery, if it wasn’t apparent from last week’s shenanigans and whatnot. Hope you enjoyed Wednesday’s and Artista’s ramblings. I know I did. It’s nice to know that I’ve got friends to hold my safety net.

Here’s another reminder to enter our contest! You’ve got just under three weeks, so let’s see those submissions! Full details can be found here! Yay!

That’s all I’ve got for tonight. See y’all next week.

My style is the bomb digi bomb di dang di dang digi digi,

Phoenix

PS I no longer hate The Temple of Doom.

What’s this>? Almost 10PM on Tuesday and no new comic>? Well don’t worry kiddies I’m certain the fine members of our staff here at RHoM (other than me of course) are hard at work on the next comic (see below post ^_^). This is just a minor set back (we’re all very busy) and if nothing is up soonish-ish I’ll write up a script…or something, but I wouldn’t count on it. The fine folks here (other than me) are all awesome people who will continue to amaze you while I sit back and crack jokes at their expense. In the mean time for your amusement you should go check out http://juxtapositioncomics.wordpress.com/ or one of our other friends, and come see Evil Dead the Musical’s West Coast Premiere up here in Martinez! Well don’t see the show in the meantime, it doesn’t open until Friday the 13th, but come see it. It’s gorey.

- Wednesday out.

*EDIT* I KNOW! I give you my oath that if nothing is up by the end of tomorrow (as it’s my day ^_^) I’ll put up some filler crap to tide you all over (it’ll be stupid, and it’ll suck, but it’ll be something). Can’t have our dear friends left hanging! Gotta keep the love flowing!

Leave an opening on your dance card for me!

- W

**EDIT the SECOND**

Yeah, they’re going to call my bluff. I can feel it. Fear not, I will come up with something. For this is RHoM and you shall except accept no substitutes!    (The masked grammar barron baron strikes again!)

I’m a homicidal maniac, they look just like everyone else.
-W

***EDIT the THIRD***

Alright Wednesday is over. I will post nonsensical filler before dawn
