Starving Morlocks

We apologize (except for Wednesday), from the bottoms of our hearts, for the shoddy art, the shoddy writing, and the apparent tardiness of the comic. We’re new to this, and as such, learning as we go. Both Artista and I had busy weekends, so you get what you get. So there. At least it’s extra big.

Couple new things to the site since last week’s blog: added a page called ‘Phoenix’s Thoughts’ where I’ll be dumping some of my longer rambles. We’ll see how that goes. (EDIT: ‘Phoenix’s Thoughts’ is now a separate blog. Follow the previous link to find it.) For everyone on Facebook, we’ve got a Facebook group. Join it for updates and to be awesome! You also might have noticed the filler post we had up for the last week regarding the comic status. That might stay for future strips, it might not. We’ll see.

Anyway, there you go. Our first truly lame strip. It’ll be better next week.

Twelve Points

There’s number two! Well, ladies and jellyspoons, we’re two weeks into this adventure, and it’s still pretty exciting. This week’s comic was written by our very own Whaleweigh, bless her twisted mind and bus rides from school, and illustrated of course by Artista. Due to numerous amounts of feedback from both readers and writers, we’re looking into a way to post the full image on the page, instead of the current preview as it is. Until then, clicky to enjoy.

The original intent of this comic when we first started giving it serious thought a year ago was to use it as a chronicle of our crazy lives at Roget’s House of Mystery. However, we no longer live in that bizarre house, and as such, the direction of the comic looks like it’s going slightly different. For those of you who know us personally, you’ll notice we’re refraining from using our real names in our comic. This allows not only for fun code name secrecy (Secret Moose to Secret Squirrel…), but it also lets us to expand the characters that have been based on us into very different persona. I’ll see if I can’t get a character page up soonish as we introduce the rest of our cast. Charlie here is based on me, but he’s not actually me. Anyone who knows me knows that I never have my uniform untucked. Also, I promise I’m not evil. He might be. Only time will tell.

You’ll Always Remember Your First

I’ll explain, I promise. But read the comic first. READ IT!! Clicky to enlarge! Did you? Good. Don’t be lame and read the blog first. Who does that? Anyway, Wednesday works at a theatre as the resident sound guy. As part of his job, he maintains the microphones and mic packs. To prevent the actors’ sweat (EW SWEAT) from ruining the packs, they are wrapped in unlubricated condoms. The packs, not the actors. He needs the receipt in order to be reimbursed. This is the source of much amusement to us here at Roget’s House of Mystery. So yay.

And thus marks our very first comic! We’ve decided on updating every Monday to start. We’ll see how well our respective schedules gel and see if we can’t arrange more updates each week. You’ll notice that this one has gone up a little early. Let’s hope that’s a trend.

Roget’s House of Mystery… Reborn???

Unbeknownst to the greater internet, we’re back after a year’s hiatus. Inspired by Little Albatross’ recent foray into the wide world of webcomics, I’ve embarked on a journey that can only be described as getting the band back together. We’ll see how it goes. Though we are distanced by the waters of the bay, and now by half a state, the residents of RHoM will in some way always be residents of RHoM. Go ahead. Look it up on google maps. You can see where it was. Then go egg it. Bastard landlord. No, don’t egg it. I didn’t say that. Please?

A lawsuit really isn’t the best way to get a webcomic going. A least I don’t think so. After all, I’m just the, uh… well… I guess my role in this would be somewhat of a producer. We’ve got an artist back on board, and a pun-ist. Still waiting on the “real” writer, but he’s super busy. So, we’ll see. We’re excited. You should be worried.

I promise there will be an actual comic in the next post. Really, I do.
